Mexico.
“Travel is more than the seeing of sights; it is a change that goes on, deep and permanent, in the ideas of living.” – Miriam Beard
A few weeks ago I travelled to Mexico for a close friend’s destination wedding. It was one of the most amazing, relaxing holidays spent with a bunch of great people, and the first real break I’d taken since launching The LANE last year. There’s something magical about the afternoons in Mexico. And sipping strawberry margaritas poolside, taking in a rich vibrant sunset against the dramatic desert backdrop & Mexican coastline, was my idea of heaven.
The bride and groom Ann-Marie & Taylor Knox are such a beautiful couple. Their relaxed, fun-loving nature is infectious and an intimate beachside wedding was only fitting. The wedding was anything but traditional, their photographs were taken before the ceremony, they walked together down the aisle and were married barefoot on the sand by a close friend. They did the entire wedding their way, it was truly a reflection of them and I was so lucky to be there to witness it all. Ann-Marie wore a vintage 60′s cotton sundress, a divine turquoise stone ring and a fresh flower garland in her loose wavy hair – she was truly one of the most beautiful brides I’ve ever seen. The beachside reception at Cabo Surf Hotel was filled with rustic neutrals, splashes of vibrant sunset hues and turquoise mismatched vases holding an assortment Billy Balls, Succulents, Daisies, Peonies and Roses. After the ceremony we indulged in mexican food, margaritas, listened to some of the most heartfelt speeches and danced all night.
Since returning home I’ve been obsessed with destination weddings and can’t wait to feature more on The LANE. Any bride will tell you that your wedding day passes by so quickly. It’s really nice to be able to stretch the celebration out over a few days & allow yourself time to really soak it all in. Everyone’s on such a high from being on holidays themselves, it creates such a great atmosphere.
Here are a few snapshots from our trip taken by my good friend Lauren Ross, who also happens to be one of the most incredibly talented wedding photographers in the business! Lauren was a guest at this wedding, so when Ann-Marie & Taylor receive the professional wedding pics back I will be sharing them on The LANE! Can’t wait. ♥
PS – if anyone is thinking of having a destination wedding and needs a stylist… The LANE Event Styling Service has just launched and I will gladly decorate your wedding!
